“Kiwanis: Changing the World One Child and One Community At a Time”
The Ashland Kiwanis Club takes the Kiwanis motto seriously. They have worked hard over the last several decades to build and strengthen their relationships with the Ashland Schools.
- In 2008 the Ashland Kiwanis Club approached the Ashland Schools Foundation about forming a partnership for fundraising for schools through the premiere event, the Monster Dash Run for Education.
- They positively affect the lives of many children through their reading and mentoring programs at both Bellview Elementary Schools and Ashland Middle School.
- They proudly sponsor a very active Key Club at Ashland High School with over 60 student members. The club members perform community service for the schools, Special Olympics, needy children, and other events like Relay for Life. The club is also the key to our volunteers success for the Monster Dash!
In addition to their work in the Ashland schools, the Ashland Kiwanis Community Service Committee sponsors Special Olympics working with direct coaching, fundraising, and assisting with many Special Olympic events throughout the valley.
In order to achieve all this good work, the club has a variety of fundraisers throughout the community. The most noticeable is the flag program. They are the stalwart folks you see putting out the many US flags throughout Ashland so early in the morning on patriotic holidays. They place flags at over 250 locations – raising more than $10,000 for the club.
