VIRTUAL RECOMMENDED ROUTES

Our very own Lithia Park, a beautiful 93-acre park in downtown Ashland, Oregon, was named one of America’s 10 Great Public Spaces for 2014 by the American Planning Association. Southern Oregon is also one of the premiere running destinations of the Northwest; and Ashland, specifically, has been identified by Running Times magazine as the ultra-distance running mecca of the U. S., and Outside magazine named Ashland the “Best Town in America for Trail Running.”

For these reasons (and more!), we invite our virtual runners to get out there and run around our beautiful community for this year’s virtual Monster Dash event! We’ve put together several recommended routes for Ashland and Talent (see below), with 1-mile and 5k distances.

Please note that safety is up to YOU for virtual racing. No roads will be blocked off and flaggers will not be monitoring intersections except on Race Day, October 28th, for the in-person runners. Virtual runners should not attempt to use the Lithia Park courses on Oct 28th between 8am and 1pm.

TRADITIONAL LITHIA PARK RACE COURSES:

On the map below, all races begin and end at the light post just below the fountain.

  • Mile Fun Run – Green route begins on Winburn Way to Granite St, turnaround at the base of Lantern Hill Rd and back to Start/Finish.
  • 5K Run – continue to follow Orange route up Granite St around reservoir onto Glenview St and turnaround at the base of Ashland Loop Rd, then back to Start/Finish.
  • 10K Run – continue to follow Purple route, turning right up Terrace St and all the way up the hill to the turnaround in the cul-de-sac of Terrace St, and finish back at the starting point.

SAFETY INFORMATION

While you’re out there running your very own course, please remember the following!

  • Wear appropriate clothing (or costumes!) for your running terrain and the weather.
  • Watch for vehicles at all roadway crossings (parents, we recommend pointing out your race course intersections to younger kids beforehand, so they know when to stop and look!).
  • Take care of yourself by bringing along water and snacks, or recruit loved ones to provide pop-up aid stations along your course.
  • Set up your own finish line with cheer squad and photographer/videographer for contest entries.
  • And most importantly…have fun!
