The Ashland Monster Dash Run for Education has gone VIRTUAL this year!

So instead of an official “Race Day” event, participants can choose to run, walk, stroll or zombie stroll anytime October 23-31. Choose from 1-mile Fun Run, 5K or 10K distances, and pre-register online (or click the REGISTER HERE button to the right).

While we won’t all be gathering at our traditional starting line in Lithia Park this year, we are offering several recommended routes, and encourage you to create your own race day fun! All racer packets will include a runner’s bib, finisher’s medal, and long crepe paper streamers to create your very own finish line events. Find more info about what’s in the packet on our Packet Pickup page.

  • Friday, October 23rd: Virtual Run begins, Drive-thru Packet Pickup at Ashland Middle School from 4-6pm.
  • Friday, October 30th: Second Packet Pickup at Ashland Middle School from 3-6pm.
  • Saturday, October 31st: Happy Halloween! Final Packet Pickup at Ashland Middle School from 9-11am.
  • Sunday, November 1st, 11:59pm: Deadline to enter online contests and upload running time to the race website for drawing eligibility.

Our very own Lithia Park, a beautiful 93-acre park in downtown Ashland, Oregon, was named one of America’s 10 Great Public Spaces for 2014 by the American Planning Association. Southern Oregon is also one of the premiere running destinations of the Northwest; and Ashland, specifically, has been identified by Running Times magazine as the ultra-distance running mecca of the U. S., and Outside magazine named Ashland the “Best Town in America for Trail Running.”

For these reasons (and more!), we still hope you get out there and run around our beautiful community for this year’s virtual Monster Dash event! We are working on putting together several recommended routes for Ashland and Talent (like the one below), with 1-mile and 5k distances. Stay tuned for additional maps and descriptions coming soon…

On the map below, all races begin and end at the lightpost just below the fountain. Start with the Mile run directions and complete the instructions for your distance.

  • Mile Fun Run – Green route begins on Winburn Way to Granite St, turnaround in parking lot across from Lantern Hill Rd and back to Start/Finish.
  • 5K Run – continue to follow Orange route up Granite St around reservoir onto Glenview St to marked turnaround, then back to Start/Finish.
  • 10K Run – continue to follow Purple route, turning right up Terrace St and all the way up the hill to the turnaround in the cul-de-sac of Terrace St, and finish back at the starting point.

While you’re out there running your very own course, please remember the following!

  • Please socially-distance yourself from other walkers, runners, bikers and zombie-walkers.
  • Wear appropriate clothing (or costumes!) for your running terrain and the weather.
  • Watch for vehicles at all roadway crossings (parents, we recommend pointing out your race course intersections to younger kids beforehand, so they know when to stop and look!).
  • Take care of yourself by bringing along water and snacks, or recruit loved ones to provide pop-up aid stations along your course.
  • Remember to set up that finish line with cheer squad and photographer/videographer for contest entries.
  • And most importantly…have fun!
